A lovely girl brought a puppy,
To try to cheer a lady who was sick and sad.
She had a heart that was being very bad,
Skipping a beat and doing a fandango.
I tried to look reassuring, to keep her spirits up.
Each time she looked my way, I hoped the sight,
Of my colourful patchwork coat would bring a smile to her face.
I hoped she’d find me amusing, as my tongue sticks out.
It is impossible to put it away.
I hope she begins to love me, as I so want to love her,
All I can do for the moment is to watch, wait, and hope.
That she will get well and soon be able to play.
