DO YOU KNOW?

Do you know? I keep on thinking,

A dangerous thing to do, I know.

Why does the moon look so very dead and cold,

And the sun ablaze day after day in fiery torment?

Why do the oceans pull enormous amounts of water

Backwards and forwards, day after day?

Sometimes gently with little sighing laps;

Others ferociously, ripping land destructively away, never to return.

Science and astronomy have the answers; mere mortals just know it has always been so.

Till time ordains  it comes to an exploding, spectacular end,

The debris dispersed into pitch-black darkness and oblivion.

Science and mythology have written about the beginning and end.

Yet, still, no one knows the complete story in this never-ending tale.
