THE GARDEN’S HAD A HAIRCUT
The garden’s had a haircut.
The wildlife is in a whirl.
All their cosy, shady, hiding, nesting places have been clipped away.
There were shouts of indignation,
And fights for the best and safest places to roost for the night,
Wondering if it would be better to move to another garden site.
Sleep on it, sleep on it; it might look better in daylight.
This is too good a spot to leave,
With plentiful water and insects darting about on the wing.
Even the cat is friendly, too old to chase us for food, play or anything.
Caterpillars creeping in the bushes ready for a quick takeaway.
On consideration, let’s rebuild and stay.
