MOAN, MOAN, MOAN

Moan, moan, moan, all you ever do is moan.
Why don’t you just leave home I would be better off here without you.
How many times a day is this shouted in frustration in Our World.
A word too many are spoken and long relationships are broken.

You send them on their way with angry words spoken.
Slam the door, pace the floor, having a solo conversation.
Waving arms about, having a good shout in frustration.
Slamming cupboard doors in retaliation for a broken relationship.

Tears flow as you start to think is this the end.
Was it so bad, could we have changed?
Sobs start to slow, as realisation says it is time to end it.
The dog curls up close, to provide the vital loving friendship.

NO FISHING!

Floods have been so bad, there are no fish to be had.
As to spawn and habitats, have been washed away.

Come on fish hurry flirt and make more spawn.
Return to swim and play from dusk to dawn.

MY ABSENT VALENTINE

We missed this day by a whisker.
Goodbyes all said and done, as you sped away,
Out of sight,
where I can no longer reach to touch or kiss you.
It will be hard to watch others blending with hugs and whispers,
Emphasizing how much I truly miss you.

Empty flower vases now stand,
where blossoms were tenderly arranged,
Casting the scent of love around the room.
An absent card space, where our declarations of love,
once sat for all to see.

Just memories to pull out, of flowers, hugs, whispers and kisses,
Confirming and celebrating this love of yours and mine.
Preparing for the day as yet unspecified,
When we can be joined again, for a very long time.
From your ever-loving Valentine.

MAUDE ISLAND

Maude Island, in Queen Charlotte Sound, South Island New Zealand is the home of a very ancient frog. It has no eyes or ears and has lived there for millions of years undisturbed.

The Island's more recent claim to fame was when a war-weary 1850-dated gun was cemented there, to be the sole defence of the sound from the expected Japanese invasion. It was fired twice while practising. One shell fell into the sea as intended and one killed two sheep.

They were the only victims, of hours of defensive boring duty, for many a serviceman, for the duration of the war. Wish more tours of duty in wartime were like that.
