I LOOK FOR JOY

 

I look for joy in my dearly beloved.

Since I waved you goodbye that fateful day.

We were not to know how long,

The time apart would be so cruelly expanded. 

As deadline after deadline silently faded.

I searched for firm news of your return.

I hope for joy my dearly beloved.

Making plans for your safe journey home. 

Yet I am torn between my need and your safety.

Don’t take risks, please don’t take risks.

Endangering the life that stretches before us.

Just to be together on Valentine’s Day.

This is my virtual wish for a loving safe 

Happy Valentine’s Day and heaps of loving on your return.

WEDDING VOWS

 

You have come to church today to confirm and celebrate your lifelong commitment, to Christian marriage to one another.

Before God, you stand hand in hand plighting your troth on this your wedding day.

It is support, strength, and real love you are promising one another.

Love is like a plant it needs the right measure of ingredients in its food or else it will wither and fade away.

Love needs mutual nurturing to gather strength and grow.

Or one day one of you may say I have to go now as it is too painful to stay.

If that day should ever, unfortunately, arrive come, knock on our door first before you run.

Sometimes we can help you to help yourselves.

It is not a Jonah we intend to be, just a good friend in times of emergency.

God bless you both and give you many happy years together.
